Part five of a propaganda series of seven information films shown to the American G.I. in the 1940s. Originally produced by the United States government for the Morale Services Division which documents the causes and events leading up to World War II and exhorts Americans to support the war effort. The Battle of Russia celebrates the spirit of the long-suffering Soviet people as they heroically repulse the Nazi invasion threatening their homeland....

Guy Haines, a tennis star who hates his wife, is approached on a train by a stranger, Bruno Anthony, who hates his father. Anthony offers a plan: each could kill the other's victim. No motive, no clue would link the two murders save the casual meeting of strangers on a train.

On one side is an army of gunmen dead-set on springing a murderous cohort from jail. On the other is Sheriff John T. Chance and his two deputies: one a recovering drunkard, the other a crippled codger. Also in their ragtag ranks are an unseasoned, trigger-happy youth and a woman with a past-- and her eye on Chance.

Fleeing war-torn China, a small planeload of people are hijacked to an idyllic valley in the Himalayas where time has virtually stopped. There Conway, a British diplomat, falls in love with a beautiful woman, and is asked to remain in Shangri-La as its new leader.
